For those of you following the SLMA, you know that we discuss how pound for pound we believe the marketing people create more wealth than anyone else in the company. Yes, anyone is the correct word. Marketers create the demand, the preference, and the leads that turn into revenue.

When I see dips in sales at a company, in 90% of the cases it is because marketing has stopped its activities. There have been cuts in the budget, key people have left or been laid off, or programs are cancelled to contribute to short-term profits. Break this cycle and you threaten not just the short-term profit of the company but its long term survival. If you want to build wealth and revenue, hire a marketer.
